Risk Management

  • Risk assessment for a change to railway signaller’s training regime. This provided insight into the potential risks associated with a new training approach and supported the development of risk mitigation strategies to minimise risks during the design and implementation period;
  • Risk assessment that analysed the safety implications of demanning (downsizing) in a manufacturing setting. This study helped to define the optimum team numbers on site;
  • Human factors risk assessment for a new train driver competence management program. This provided insight into the potential risks associated with a new in-cab assessment program for train drivers. It looked at the development of optimal assessment processes that would increase the likelihood of being able to detect areas for development in driver’s skills and experience, while minimising the risks associated with distraction while driving;
  • Risk assessment of the impact of longer trains on passenger, crew and fleet security. This study investigated the impact of running longer trains (e.g. 8 carriages) at night and the risk (both actual and perceived) associated with passenger and crew security as well as the potential for increased vandalism of trains.
